Muids Mill

MUIDS (Eure) – a former 17th-century watermill located in a place called Le Bout de la Ville. Listed as a historic monument (2006). This mill is mentioned as early as the 12th century. Built in half-timbered style, it rests on two stone walls spanning a branch of the Seine. The mechanism consists of a movable frame that allows the wheel to be lowered into the water regardless of the river's height. Along with the mill in Andé, it is the last example in Europe of this type of mill, which was once widespread in the region, particularly on the arches of bridges over the Seine, such as the old bridges in Vernon and Pont-de-l'Arche.
