Saint Lazare Mill

Several mills existed in Lamballe and the surrounding communities. Some are still standing, but many have fallen into ruin or been destroyed. In 1788, Abbé Dutemple recorded four water mills in Lamballe, twelve within a radius of one league, and five windmills within the same radius. The diversity of mill types allowed this "industry" to operate at all times (floods, droughts, wind conditions, etc.). The Saint-Lazare mill A windmill built between 1788 and 1829 at the top of Mont Boët, it offers a beautiful view of Lamballe. Nicknamed the "red mill," it was owned by the Duke of Penthièvre until 1789.

It then had a succession of owners before being purchased by the municipality in 1972.
The last miller ceased operations in 1901.

The mill has been listed as a historic monument since 1977.
