Prat Mill

The Prat mill is an old tide mill, built in the 15th century or even earlier, and ruined at the beginning of the 20th century. Many tide mills were in operation in Rance. They used the force of the tide to turn their millstones: a reservoir near the mill filled up at high tide and then emptied into the Rance at low tide. Combined with the force of the ebb tide, the water turned the wheel connected to the millstones.

The Prat mill is unique in Rance today, thanks to the renovation it underwent in the 2000s, carried out by passionate volunteers.

The mill is open from March to November by appointment (groups of 10 or more).
May-June and September, Sundays 2:30pm-6:30pm (guided tours at 3pm, 4pm, and 5pm).
July-August, every day from 2:30pm to 6:30pm (guided tours at 3pm, 4pm, and 5pm)

Outside opening hours, it is possible to walk to the site and see the buildings and the Rance.

The site is accessible on foot (600m) / Access is permitted for vehicles for people with disabilities.
